With the current spell of good weather lasting yet another day, and the added bonus of extra daylight hours, I decided to take advantage and have an evening walk around Devoke Water. This is somewhere I always enjoy, although wellingtons may have been more suitable than boots for part of the walk.

Blue sky and sunshine over the higher Lakeland fells; including Scafell, Esk Pike and Bow Fell.

A view back along the track between the road and Devoke Water.

The old boathouse next to the tarn.

Scafell seen behind the more ruinous section of the boathouse.

As the saying goes, , , "patients is a virtue".

Looking back along the VERY wet route alongside the tarn.

We all need a way to relax; some people read, some people walk the fells, some like watching TV, and others, like the lady in the red van, enjoy knitting. I'm assuming she was waiting for the guy who was fishing, so you have to admire the way they've found the perfect compromise.
He likes fishing, the outdoors but hates knitting. She likes knitting, the outdoors but hates fishing.

At the far end of the tarn now and unbelievably, after such a sunny day, we find ourselves walking in the shade.

Crossing Devoke Water's outflow.

Kirk Fell, Great Gable and Scafell, still enjoying the evening sunshine.

Zooming in on the boathouse.

Would you credit it, we get about ten yards from the car and the sun comes back out, and stays out all the way home.

Mmmmm just over 20 miles until I get something to eat.
