Heading out from Greendale without a single flake of snow on the ground.

Greendale Gill and its tributaries; Tongues Gills. The return leg of the walk followed a route across the fellside on the left hand side of the picture.

Buckbarrow.

A view across to Seatallan, which looks somewhat flat from this angle.

Understandably so, but the view across to the scafells seem to dominate most of this walk.

Middle Fell summit.

Soft powdery snow on the short ridge on Middle Fell.

Heading into the lower ground between Middle Fell and Seatallan.

Looking over to the area below Red Pike.

Taken from the shelter near Seatallan summit, this photo shows just how little snow we've had on the western side of the Lake District. During the week, the weather in many other areas of the country quite literally brought everything to a standstill. In fact, most things never even got moving in the first place. Thankfully we were spared any disruption at lower level, although the snow on the fells was most welcome.

Seatallan Summit, with the scafells behind.

Looking down the fellside towards Cat Bields and the west coast.

The unmistakable skyline of Scafell Pike, Mickledore, Symonds Knott and Scafell.

And not so close up. This time with Middle Fell running across the picture.

From the summit of Buckbarrow I headed across country to this fine cairn; I believe it was built by Jos Naylor.

Someone with a creative side to them has built these seats above Greendale, and what better place to polish off the last of the food I'd brought with me. I'm assuming the cushions and covers have been taken away to be washed.

A close up of one of the series of waterfalls found in Greendale Gill.

And finally a photo taken from Greendale itself.
